Planning your LSMT DBA immersion in London means choosing accommodation that is convenient, comfortable, and easy to reach from the academic venue.
London offers everything from budget hotels and serviced apartments to premium stays. The right area can help reduce daily travel time and keep your overall accommodation budget under control.
The current LSMT eCampus programme page lists the programme location as Croydon, London, while LSMT's contact page lists its London office at 167–169 Great Portland Street, London W1W 5PF.
Because these are different locations, participants should confirm the exact venue for their DBA immersion before booking accommodation.
This is particularly important for a short academic visit, as staying close to the correct venue can make a significant difference to your daily commute.
Your best area will depend on the confirmed immersion venue. When planning your stay, these are the main areas worth comparing.
Croydon is the most logical area to explore if your confirmed immersion venue is in or around the Croydon location listed by LSMT's eCampus page.
The area has a large selection of hotels, serviced apartments, and budget accommodation.
Croydon also has strong transport connections to central London, making it possible to combine your academic visit with sightseeing.
Best for: Participants whose confirmed venue is in Croydon and professionals looking for more accommodation choices at comparatively lower London prices.
Central London can be considered when the immersion venue is closer to the city centre or Great Portland Street.
Staying centrally gives you easy access to restaurants, shopping, attractions, and public transport.
The main disadvantage is that central accommodation is generally more expensive than staying in outer London areas.
Best for: Participants who want convenient access to central London and evening sightseeing.
These areas are close to Great Portland Street and offer numerous hotels, serviced apartments, restaurants, and cafés.
Marylebone can provide a convenient base for professionals who want a quieter environment while remaining close to central London.
Mayfair generally has more premium accommodation and can therefore require a larger budget.
Best for: Visitors whose confirmed venue is near Great Portland Street.
Fitzrovia is another central option close to Great Portland Street.
It is surrounded by restaurants, cafés, offices, and public transport connections.
For a professional visiting London for only a few days, the area's central location can be useful because many parts of central London can be reached without lengthy daily travel.
Best for: Professionals who prefer a central location close to the West End and Great Portland Street area.
Euston and King's Cross can be useful alternatives for participants who want good transport connections without staying in the most expensive parts of central London.
The areas have hotels, serviced apartments, restaurants, and excellent rail and Underground connectivity.
They can also work well for visitors arriving in London by train.
Best for: Travellers prioritising transport connectivity.
South Bank is another popular area for visitors who want access to central London while staying near major attractions.
The area is convenient for sightseeing and has hotels and apartment-style accommodation.
However, the daily journey should be checked against the confirmed LSMT venue.
Best for: Participants combining the immersion with sightseeing.
When the confirmed academic venue is toward South London, areas such as Wimbledon and nearby districts can provide another accommodation base.
These locations may be useful for participants who want a quieter setting while maintaining transport access to central London.
Best for: Visitors whose venue or travel plans are concentrated in South London.
London provides several accommodation options, and your choice should depend on the length of your stay and preferred level of convenience.
A hotel is usually the simplest option for a short DBA immersion.
You generally receive:
Reception service
Housekeeping
Wi-Fi
Private room
Easier check-in and check-out
For a five- to seven-night academic visit, a hotel can be convenient when you want a straightforward stay.
A serviced apartment can offer more space and may include:
Kitchen
Refrigerator
Washing machine
Living area
Longer-stay facilities
This can be useful for professionals staying for a week or more.
An aparthotel combines some hotel services with apartment-style facilities.
This can be a useful middle ground for professionals who want more flexibility without fully managing a private rental.
Sharing accommodation with another participant can reduce the individual cost.
Before booking, check guest policies, cleaning charges, deposit requirements, and whether utilities are included.
Hostels and budget properties can reduce accommodation costs, particularly for solo travellers.
The trade-off is usually less privacy and fewer hotel-style services.
Accommodation prices vary substantially by location, weekday, season, event demand, room type, and booking date.
For Croydon, current hotel-market listings show average accommodation around £86 per night, while recent listings for budget properties can be lower. Current examples also show some Croydon hotels available from approximately £40–£70 per night, although prices vary by date and room type.
For planning purposes, Indian travellers can use the following broad ranges:
Accommodation Type | Approx. Cost Per Night |
|---|---|
Budget hotel or hostel | ₹5,000–₹9,000 |
Basic hotel | ₹8,000–₹14,000 |
Standard hotel | ₹12,000–₹20,000 |
Serviced apartment | ₹14,000–₹25,000 |
Premium hotel | ₹25,000–₹40,000+ |
These are planning ranges rather than fixed prices. Actual London rates can change significantly according to the dates you choose.
For a five-night DBA immersion stay:
Accommodation Type | Approx. 5-Night Cost |
|---|---|
Budget hotel or hostel | ₹25,000–₹45,000 |
Basic hotel | ₹40,000–₹70,000 |
Standard hotel | ₹60,000–₹1,00,000 |
Serviced apartment | ₹70,000–₹1,25,000 |
Premium hotel | ₹1,25,000–₹2,00,000+ |
Croydon can provide lower-cost accommodation options than many central London areas, although this depends heavily on your dates.
For participants who need an additional couple of nights because of flight schedules:
Accommodation Type | Approx. 7-Night Cost |
|---|---|
Budget hotel or hostel | ₹35,000–₹63,000 |
Basic hotel | ₹56,000–₹98,000 |
Standard hotel | ₹84,000–₹1,40,000 |
Serviced apartment | ₹98,000–₹1,75,000 |
Premium hotel | ₹1,75,000–₹2,80,000+ |
A longer stay can make serviced apartments more attractive, particularly when cooking and laundry facilities are available.
The answer depends primarily on your confirmed immersion location.
Factor | Croydon | Central London |
|---|---|---|
Accommodation Cost | Often lower | Generally higher |
Hotel Choice | Broad | Very broad |
Restaurants | Many | Very many |
Transport | Strong | Excellent |
Sightseeing | Requires travel | Easy access |
Quiet Environment | More options | Usually busier |
Best For | Budget and South London | Central access |
If your academic sessions are actually held in Croydon, staying there can reduce the daily commute.
If the immersion is at or near LSMT's central London office, accommodation around Great Portland Street, Marylebone, Fitzrovia, or nearby areas may be more convenient.
Croydon can be comparatively affordable within London's accommodation market.
Recent accommodation listings show budget hotel options below the rates commonly associated with central London, although weekend and high-demand dates can still be expensive.
Croydon's average private rent was £1,582 per month in August 2026, according to the Office for National Statistics, but short-term accommodation prices should not be directly compared with long-term residential rent.
For an immersion stay, hotel and serviced-apartment prices are the more relevant figures.
London accommodation can become significantly more expensive when demand increases.
Search both the Croydon area and central London until the exact immersion venue is confirmed.
A hotel close to a railway or Underground station can reduce daily travel time.
For several nights, a serviced apartment can provide useful kitchen and laundry facilities.
A cheaper hotel can become less economical when daily transport expenses and commuting time are added.
Look at taxes, service charges, breakfast, deposits, parking, and cancellation terms before comparing properties.
For an international visitor, staying near a convenient transport connection can make the trip easier.
Depending on your confirmed venue, you can consider accommodation close to major transport points such as:
East Croydon
West Croydon
London Bridge
Victoria
King's Cross St Pancras
Euston
Great Portland Street
The ideal station depends on where your immersion sessions are being held.
For most short academic visits, a car is not necessary.
London has extensive public transportation, including the Underground, buses, rail services, and other connections.
Parking can also add substantially to accommodation costs, particularly in central areas.
For an immersion participant, staying near public transport can often be more practical than renting a car.
Before confirming your booking, check:
Distance from the exact LSMT venue
Walking distance to public transport
Wi-Fi
Breakfast options
Laundry facilities
Check-in timing
Cancellation policy
Room size
Air conditioning
Kitchen facilities
Taxes and service charges
Luggage storage
Late-arrival arrangements
For an international academic visit, reliable Wi-Fi and convenient transport can be particularly important.
Your booking should match your official immersion schedule and flight timings.
For many international visitors, arriving one day before the academic programme can provide a useful buffer against flight delays.
You may also want to stay one additional night after the final session if your return flight is early the next morning.
A five- to seven-night stay can therefore be practical for a short immersion, depending on the final schedule.
If LSMT confirms that your immersion takes place in Croydon, start your search around Croydon town centre and East Croydon.
These areas give you access to a large accommodation market and strong transport connections.
Look for properties close to railway or tram connections rather than choosing accommodation based only on the lowest advertised room price.
If LSMT confirms the immersion at or near its London office on Great Portland Street, central areas become more practical.
Consider:
Great Portland Street
Fitzrovia
Marylebone
Euston
Regent's Park area
These locations can reduce the daily journey and provide plenty of restaurants and services.
The first step is to confirm the exact immersion venue with LSMT.
Once the venue is confirmed:
Venue in Croydon → Search Croydon and nearby South London areas.
Venue near Great Portland Street → Search Marylebone, Fitzrovia, Euston, and central London.
Then compare:
Room price + taxes + transport + commute + facilities
This gives you a more realistic accommodation budget than comparing hotel rates alone.
Check | Why It Matters |
|---|---|
Confirmed venue | Determines the best area |
Travel time | Helps avoid long daily journeys |
Transport access | Makes commuting easier |
Room price | Controls accommodation cost |
Taxes | Prevents unexpected charges |
Breakfast | Can simplify mornings |
Wi-Fi | Useful for professional work |
Laundry | Helpful for longer stays |
Cancellation | Provides flexibility |
Check-in | Important for international arrivals |
Luggage storage | Useful around flight times |
Parking | Important only if using a car |

The most practical approach is to confirm the venue, choose accommodation near a transport connection, compare the total booking price, and allow enough time around your international flights.
Start by confirming the exact immersion venue. If it is in Croydon, look around Croydon town centre and East Croydon. If it is near Great Portland Street, consider Fitzrovia, Marylebone, and nearby central areas.
